Some of the talented creatives in and around our village have been hard at work again to drop yet another ‘Ruddington Yarn Bomb’!
Whilst the pillar box topper on Church Street gets changed quite frequently, ‘Ruddington Yarn Ninjas’ have again pulled out all the stops in preparation for Easter 2023 by knitting and crocheting suitably designed pieces to decorate other locations – including our village centre church buildings.
Some of these latest creations can be seen above, but there are even more to enjoy on the Ninjas’ dedicated Facebook page >>HERE<<. Katie Goy says: “Thanks to all the Yarn Ninjas who have contributed their makes and helped with the installation. It looks amazing”. Zoe Parton of the Honeycomb Christian Charity Shop agrees: “You have surpassed yourselves, if that’s possible?! Your work is a total joy to see; such amazing talent and creativity. You’re all a blessing to Ruddington.”
They have also created an ‘Easter Bunny Trail’ for children and adults alike. From this Saturday, April 1st for the following two weeks, trail sheets will be available to pick up from The Bottle Top, Framework Knitters’ Museum, Parker’s Yard or Thomas James Estate Agents. Fill these up to receive a sweet/ badge when completed. You can also enter their prize draw by sharing pictures of you and the bunnies on Ruddington Yarn Ninjas Facebook group or by tagging them on Instagram.
Yarn Ninja Liz Dean says: “If you enjoy our displays and would like to make a small donation, we would be very grateful. Everyone involved volunteers their time to create the displays which are getting bigger and better. Any further donations will allow us to continue our work which is currently supported by Ruddington Parish Council. Thank you to everyone who has already donated.”
A dedicated crowdfunding page for their forthcoming ‘Coronation Display’ is open until this Friday 31st March >>HERE<<.
St Peter’s Church has published this list of Easter Services, which begin on Sunday 2nd April:
Liz Mack reveals: “The Palm Sunday service is a family oriented informal service with pastries and coffee and different interactive ways of exploring a theme – we’re also going to walk around the outside of church shouting Hosanna and waving homemade palm leaves as we re-enact that part of the Easter story.
“The Good Friday event will have a physical installation on the theme of Devastation – upturned chairs, broken stuff etc as a focus of reflection.
“For the first time we will have a full Stations of the Cross installation on Holy Saturday, the 8th, when church will be open from 2-4pm in the daytime.
“Easter Sunday is our traditional Easter celebration, the culmination of the Easter story, with traditional Easter hymns played on the organ. And for those who get up early, we are having a short sunrise service at 6am in the church garden, with fresh coffee after. So there’s something for everyone!”
The church is also holding an ‘Easter Egg Hunt’ on Easter Day:
Ruddington Baptist Church has also published a list of Easter Services as follows:
FREE ‘Easter Craft Sessions’ are being held at Ruddington Library on Tuesday 4th April and Thursday 6th April for families just to ‘drop in’ from 2.20pm to 3.30pm.
‘Easter Activities’ at Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre have also been revealed:
Miniature train rides return to NTHC this Easter, too, though there’s still no word on ‘big trains’ restarting from there yet.
Finally, there’s Den Building and a ‘Bunny Hunt’ at Rushcliffe Country Park. >>MORE<<.
The team at RUDDINGTON.info wishes you a very Happy Easter.
